Sony 76h & Pioneer 676 - which is the most forgiving

Looking to upgrade my Toshiba 220 and am stuck between the Sony DVPNS76H and Pioneer DV696AV

Any input on which of these 2 units is the most forgiving when it comes to playing DVD-Rs etc.

I have a number of discs which the Tosh struggles with (but that play OK on a ?5 cheapy unit upstairs) so I want to make sure I don't junk one machine for another that is no better.

Also any difference in layer change handling betwen the 2 ?

FYI, it will be going through a CRT TV and my eyes and ears aren't particularly sensitive so don't think picture/audio quality is going to be a factor between the two. Pioneer is slightly favourable as available in black though which will keep the Mrs happy

Thanks

Jim
