I've recently purchased a second hand 2900 DVD player, I watched a film last night using progressive output through component video into my sim2 HT200 projector. The picture is awesome until there isn't anything to focus on, say if the camera is pointing to a clear pale sky for example where I get diagonal grainy lines. I've never noticed this before using my old Pioneer player connected with S-video.
Thought I'd have a play today and connected it to my Sharp Aquos LC-42XD1E, I can't get a picture at all using the supplied component to VGA adapter. Wanted to have a play and see if I could reproduce the problem on my TV while altering between progressive and interlaced outputs. I'm at a loss! Any suggestions???
Cheers,
Al

Forget the bit about not been able to connect to my TV, seems I was having a colour blind moment :god:
I've now had a play and (on my TV at least) it seems the picture is more grainy when the output is set to progressive than when on interlaced, I'd expect this to be the other way round? There are no grainy lines though, guess I'm going to have to try interlaced output to my projector tonight when its dark.

Finally got round to watching a film on my sim2 and likewise with my TV, the picture is less grainy when the player is set to interlaced. I'm a bit baffled by this as I thought I'd notice a benefit using progressive scan output to progressive scan input, anyone explain? I also haven't noticed the diagonal lines which were apparent on the first film I watched.
Another query is, when I change from interlaced ouptput to progressive the picture on the projector is reduced to approximately half its size!!!
