It still plays CDs. All my DVDs are region 2 so its not a region issue. I just get the message "Can't play" on the display after about 60 seconds of the player trying to play the disc. These are discs (all originals, no funny formats) that have played on the player before!
Any ideas?

Have you tried, with the disc drawer open blowing inside the mechanism. It could be a dust issue. If that dont work try one of the lens cleaning discs that are available.

My davs has been playing up for a while so I got a Pioneer DV-585, sit it on top of the DAVS and use an optical audio cable to connect them - still great sound but with a better picture

Done the same also, my 880 won't read DVDs anymore although it's hardly been used, as far as discs are concerned it's relagated to audio CDs which still play perfectly and my SnaZio is connected to it with optical.
