Is the latest firmware update essential for my Denon 2910? |
welshtommo 02-12-2006, 11:36 AM Hi all,
I'm new to this so please bear with me if I sound clueless! I have read, with interest, many threads on this forum and it has helped me resolve several issues with my home cinema system - so thanks, this is a great site.
However, during my perusal, I have become aware of firmware. This is something I had'nt even heard of until I looked at this site! I have a region 2Denon DVD 2910 player but have used the remote hack I found here to make it region free (cheers!). Some members have reported problems when, after having done the hack, they then added firmware. It appeares that some firmaware my clash with the hack?
Could somebody tell me if a firmware update is essential? I would hate to do something which renders my player inoperable! Unfortunately, I can't tell you if there is any firmware already on the player as the hack prevents me from bringing up the reading on the screen.
It looks as though the firmware updates are useful if HDMI signals are being utilised? Just in case it is of significance, I am not currently using the HDMI output as I still have my trusty 'ol Tosh 32ZP38B CRT, so it is connected via component cables and the audio is connected via coax cable to my amp. In this case, will firmware be of any use to me?
Thanks in advance........
